Impact

Your generosity changes lives.

It’s only with your partnership that we can continue to deliver our special brand of high‑quality care.

Thanks to your financial contributions last year, we were able to offer a wide array of comprehensive care services. Your support allowed us to provide leading-edge diagnostic, treatment and supportive services to patients battling cancer. It enabled us to build out our future-ready infrastructure and remain at the forefront of surgical care. It also helped us continue to fight COVID-19 — and care for patients experiencing complications from the virus. These are just a few of the ways friends like you have made a real impact.

Vulnerable community members rely on us for care and healing — and your gifts allow us to provide just that, right here in Pasadena.

Your Generosity Makes a Difference

Impact Cancer Care

BECAUSE OF YOU

We have high-quality cancer care

When Michelle Usher started to feel increasingly fatigued and exhausted, she did not think anything of it, until a routine blood test indicated she was anemic. Michelle’s primary care doctor recommended she undergo testing to figure out why and referred her to a gastroenterologist. A diagnostic colonoscopy revealed she had stage 2 colon cancer.

Michelle was immediately referred by the doctor who performed the colonoscopy to Huntington Cancer Center, an affiliate of Cedars-Sinai Cancer, for care. She underwent a surgical procedure here to remove the cancerous section of her colon. The surgery was successful and confirmed that the cancer had not spread.

Michelle was able to go home the next day to start the recovery process. Today, she is cancer free and grateful — with a renewed sense of gratitude for life. Gaining this new outlook has also brought hope and excitement to her life: Michelle recently got engaged and is getting married! Your generous giving allows us to give the gift of good health to patients like Michelle. Thank you for making her health care journey a success.

Impact Saving Lives

BECAUSE OF YOU

We are saving lives

Wendy Sanchez Rodriquez and Jonathan Barba credit Huntington Hospital with saving their lives after a car crash on the Angeles Crest Highway. From the scene, they were rushed here in a medevac helicopter. They both had life-threatening injuries, including stomach and intestinal damage and many broken bones.

Both Wendy and Jonathan underwent extensive surgeries to repair damage to their bones, muscles and organs. Combined, they spent about a month in our critical care unit, before moving to one of our medical-surgical units. Today, Wendy and Jonathan are immensely grateful to be alive. While they do not remember many of the details of what happened that day, they do remember the quality of care they received at Huntington Hospital.

Support from donors like you ensures that we can respond to life-threatening injuries in a timely manner. Our Nan and Howard Schow Emergency & Trauma Center encompasses both the largest emergency department and the only trauma center in our service region — and we rely on philanthropic contributions such as yours to help heal patients like Wendy and Jonathan.

Impact Heart Health

BECAUSE OF YOU

We have healthier hearts

From screening and diagnostic tests to advanced medical and surgical treatments, Huntington Health’s state-of-the-art heart program brings cardiology services and the latest medical technologies together under one roof. Generous donations from friends like you support our full spectrum of cardiology services and make a life-changing difference for patients like Rick West.

In March 2023, Rick underwent open heart surgery here to replace his aortic valve. Robbin Cohen, MD, medical director of cardiothoracic surgery for Huntington Health, an affiliate of Cedars-Sinai, performed the surgery, after which Rick only spent a week in the hospital. In the following weeks, Rick had a couple check-ups to make sure his heart was healing well and enjoyed a quick recovery without needing rehabilitative care. He was soon able to return to work as a general contractor and get back to what he loves most: mountain biking. It is only with support from our community that we can continue to deliver a wide array of cardiac services for patients like Rick — and keep hearts beating strong.
