Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to some of the most common questions

Why does Huntington Hospital need philanthropic support?

Philanthropy is a vital source of funding for our mission of excellence in patient care, research and education. While Huntington Hospital has a number of income sources, including insurance reimbursements and investment income, the hospital is heavily dependent on private support from this community to maintain our level of excellence.

 Is Huntington a not-for-profit organization?

Yes. Huntington Hospital is a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization. Contributions are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law. We are eligible to receive matching gifts from corporations and organizations that support educational activities.

Will my gift really make a difference?

Huntington is not able to fund buildings and wide-ranging programs in medical education and research on our own. Philanthropy, once a "nice to have" is now a "need to have" and generous individuals give over $20M in support each year to a variety of areas across the campus.

May I specify how I want Huntington to use my gift?

Of course. You may specify your gift designation when making a gift online. You also may consult the Office of Philanthropy to help determine the best "match" between your charitable and financial goals and Huntington's needs.

 May I give anonymously?

Yes. We honor requests for anonymity. Please state your wishes in writing and/or contact the Office of Philanthropy.

How do I include Huntington Hospital in my will?

Development officers at Huntington have expertise in a range of charitable gift options. In making a bequest to Huntington Hospital, many benefactors specify a certain amount to be given. Alternatively, you may choose to give a percentage of your estate after other obligations are met. Regardless of the kind of planned gift you choose, our staff will work closely with you, your loved ones and your advisors to create the most appropriate plan.

Please consult your legal, financial and other representatives when making a will. Huntington will be pleased to work with you and your advisers in this process.
